In what could be regarded as the biggest upset of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 11, Ikorodu City FC earned a well-deserved 2-1 win over Katsina United FC on Sunday.
The match, played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, saw the home team, Changi Boys, lose their first-ever league game at their stronghold.

Katsina United FC had won all their 2023/2024 NPFL home matches, a trend they continued this season until Ikorodu City FC, the record breaker, ended their unbeaten streak.
The Oga Boys have seen a major turnaround since the dismissal of their former head coach, Bright Ozebagbe.
Since Nuruden Aweroro was appointed acting coach, the club has set three NPFL match records.
The first record was their victory over Lobi Stars after Lobi had gone three matches unbeaten. Then, the Oga Boys defeated Rivers United FC 3-0, ending the Pride of Rivers’ eight-match unbeaten run.
The latest casualty of Ikorodu City FC’s ferocious display is Katsina United FC, a team that had remained undefeated at home for two years. This win for Ikorodu City FC is also their first as NPFL debutants.
The home team, Changi Boys, struck first with a well-deserved goal in the 41st minute, sending the fans into rapturous applause.
Ikorodu City FC, however, responded quickly in the 44th minute when a towering header from Alade Solomon leveled the score in Katsina.
Coach Aweroro made a triple substitution, introducing Ayo Cole, Austin, and Tosin to replace Alade, Uzochukwu, and Chilaka ThankGod.
After a brilliant exchange of passes, Emmanuel Solomon, who assisted in the first goal, scored the winner for Ikorodu City FC in the 89th minute.
The away win has moved Ikorodu City FC to 12th place in the 20-team NPFL.
