Doma Utd FC wins 2023 Ahlan/Gusau Pre season tournament

Doma United FC of Gombe state have emerged winners of the Ahlan/Gusau Pre-Season tournament held in Bauchi as they beat all-fighting Plateau United 4-3 via penalties.
Africa Sport Network (ASN) reports that the Ahlan/Gusau Pre-Season tournament featured eight team based in the northern part of Nigeria that featured Lobi Stars of Markurdi, Kano Pillars FC, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and Mailantarki FC all in Group A.
The Group B had El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Plateau United FC, Doma United FC, and Katsina United.
Doma United FC joins the ranks of Niger Tornadoes who won the 2022 edition of the Pre-Season Cup.
Leading up to the grand finale of the Gusau/Ahlan preseason football tournament, Plateau United's 5 games has seen the Peace boys pick up had four wins, an opening draw while conceding only 2 goals and scoring 9.
Doma united's path to the finals have been somewhat tough including a goalless group draw against Wikki Tourist and a one nil semi-final victory over Katsina United.
Nigeria football federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau failed to make his presence felt physically at the grand finale as a result of official functions but executive board member , Sheriff Rabiu Ahlan led a retinue of executives to perform key routines like the kickoff alongside Bauchi state Football association chairman Patrick Pascal (MON).
The highly competitive finale lived up to its billing featuring end to end bouts of intensity, technical and tactical awareness as well as series of failed goal bound attempts but two players stood out eventually.
Plateau united's Uche Onwuasoanya bossed the midfield with a captivating level of swagger, stringing both short and long ranges of delectable passes to show class and dominance.
On the other end of opposition, Doma United's Ekpenyong Emmanuel provided a massive keg of worry for the Peace Boys' defense line whose tenacity, skill set and mental toughness stood him out of the pack of other quality displays.
Scores remained goalless after regulation time but Doma united scored one better than the peace boys to claim a 4-3 victory after penalties to spark up massive fans roar that left an air of excitement with the tigers of Doma.
Plateau United's General manager, Habila Hosea Mutla and Technical Advisers of Plateau United and Doma United respectively , Mbwas Mangut and Akinade Onigbinde were united in the level of intensity generated in the game as well as praises showered upon both teams effort.
Meantime, having served as one of the longest NPFL referees across Nigeria and chairman Bauchi society of referees, veteran Markus Bwashi retired from the craft in glorious fashion amidst tears of mixed emotions.
Awards were issued to deserved winners amidst jubilant fans gesture but Plateau United's General Manager, Habila Hosea Mutla and Technical adviser Mbwas Mangut must take pride in putting together a side largely impregnable, providing an entertaining and dogged piece of soccer amongst other exciting signals in such a short time but must come to reality when the NPFL season kicks off come September 9th 2023.
