Doma United's defender thumbs up team's `Never say die' spirit

Posted : 20 October 2023
Doma United defender Nelson Abiam has praised his teammates' mentality as they aim to make an impact in the Nigeria Premier Football League in the 2023/2024 league season.

The former Plateau United player said he was attracted to the brand of football played by the Savannah Tigers.

The 23-year-old center-back terminated his contract with Rangers a few weeks after agreeing to a two-year deal with the Coal City outfit.

Doma United have recorded four points from their last three NPFL matches played this season.

"We have a really good mentality here and we've changed many things this season. We're in a good way but we still have to improve a lot," he said.

"Personally, [Never-say-die] is my mentality, and I try to show that in every ball, in every match. That is how I like my game. That is my pattern as well, to give everything that I have.

"We put in a lot of energy into the team and have a good attitude as well, along with passion.

"With the coach, he likes to play good football as well, which is really, really important. As I've said and will keep saying, football is life and you have to fight for that. You cannot give in easily [on the pitch]."

Doma United are expected to host Enyimba on Match Day 4 at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, but the game has been postponed due to the Peoples Elephant's continental engagement.
