Defender with Nigeria, England, Jamaica eligibility released by Bolton

Posted : 22 May 2024

After the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season, Bolton Wanderers, a League One club, have revealed their list of retained and released players.

Despite a close call, Bolton Wanderers fell short of promotion to the EFL Championship, succumbing 2-0 to Oxford United in the League One playoffs final just four days ago.

Bolton Wanderers have announced that Nathanael Ogbeta, a product of Manchester City's youth system, has returned to Swansea City following the end of his loan spell.

During his tenure at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, the versatile defender participated in seventeen matches, contributing two goals and four assists.

Currently, Ogbeta finds himself without a club, as Swansea City confirmed his departure this summer when his contract expires on June 30, 2024.

Born in Salford, England twenty-three years ago, Ogbeta has represented England at the U20 level, but he is also eligible to play for the Super Eagles through his father and Jamaica's Reggae Boyz through his mother.

Ogbeta spent ten years with Manchester City and had a stint with Shrewsbury Town before joining Swansea City in January 2022.

Following a loan spell at Peterborough United during the second half of the 2022-2023 season, Ogbeta sought regular playing time and moved to Bolton on a temporary basis during the January transfer window.

Among the players retained by Bolton Wanderers for the 2024-2025 season is Victor Adeboyejo, a striker born in Ibadan.
