Cyriel Dessers scores twice as Rangers win six-goal thriller

Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers played a crucial role in Rangers’ 4-2 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, scoring twice to inspire a comeback win. His performance proved vital as the team bounced back from a disappointing defeat in their previous match.  


Rangers entered the fixture eager to respond after suffering a 2-0 loss at home to St. Mirren. That result led to the departure of coach Philippe Clement, with Barry Ferguson stepping in as the new manager. Ferguson handed Dessers a starting spot, and the Nigerian striker delivered when it mattered most.  


The match started poorly for Rangers, as Kilmarnock took an early two-goal lead through Joe Wright and Bradley Lyons. The early setbacks suggested another difficult outing, but the visitors soon found their rhythm and began to mount a response.  


Vaclav Cerny reduced the deficit in the 35th minute, giving Rangers hope before halftime. The goal shifted momentum in their favor as they looked to turn the game around in the second half.  


After the restart, Dessers took center stage. The 30-year-old equalized in the 53rd minute, heading home from a corner to make it 2-2. His presence in the box proved decisive as he capitalized on a well-placed delivery.  


Just nine minutes later, Dessers struck again, finishing off a long pass from Ridvan Yilmaz with a stunning half-volley. His goal gave Rangers the lead for the first time in the match. Nedim Bajrami later sealed the victory in the 85th minute, ensuring Rangers secured all three points.  


While conceding twice remains a concern, Rangers showed great resilience to turn the game around. Dessers' brace was a positive takeaway, reinforcing his importance to the team. Though he has faced criticism for inconsistency, his performance highlighted his potential. With Celtic in control of the title race, Rangers will aim to finish the season strongly and build momentum for the next campaign.
