Crystal Palace coach uncertain about Olise's future
Posted : 09 August 2023
Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, has offered an update about Michael Olise's future at the club amidst rumors connecting him to Chelsea and Manchester City in the summer transfer period.
During the 2022-2023 Premier League season, Olise, a 2021 Super Eagles invitee, had a breakthrough, achieving two goals and eleven assists. His exceptional performance has linked him with the two major Premier League teams.
Olise's remarkable form earned him the Players' Player of the Year award and the Moment of the Season award for his 94th-minute winner against West Ham United in November. His injury-time free-kick against Manchester United in January was also voted as the Goal of the Season.
Manchester City aims to secure Olise as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who left for the Saudi Pro League. Meanwhile, Chelsea consistently seeks the finest young talents globally.
Hodgson acknowledged his uncertainty about Olise's presence at Selhurst Park after the transfer window closes. He stated, "At this moment, no one knows. If there are clubs genuinely pursuing him and tempting him away, he'll face a decision."
Hodgson remains watchful for potential bids and the subsequent choices Olise might make, considering Crystal Palace's strong interest in retaining him.
Having joined from Reading in 2021, Olise still has three years remaining on his contract with Crystal Palace.
