Crowned Champions FC advance to final of Hammola Football Championship

Crowned Champions FC have secured their place in the final of this year's Hammola Football Championship, edging out last year’s finalists, Timi Giants FC, 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw at full time.


Despite a match full of chances, both teams struggled to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes.


Timi Giants FC dominated possession, creating multiple opportunities, but were consistently denied by a resolute Crowned Champions FC defense and an outstanding performance from their goalkeeper.


The game began with early attacking intent from both sides. Crowned Champions FC won a promising free-kick just three minutes into the game, although it was blocked by the wall.


Timi Giants FC had their first clear chance in the 5th minute when Owolawi Sunday headed wide from close range.


Timi Giants FC continued to press forward, missing several key chances, including a glaring miss by Sodiq Maruf in the 11th minute, which could have given them the lead.


Despite controlling much of the play, Timi Giants were unable to break down the well-organized defense of Crowned Champions FC.


Both teams went into halftime with the score locked at 0-0, and the second half followed a similar pattern.


Timi Giants FC piled on the pressure with a series of corner kicks and efforts on goal, but the Crowned Champions goalkeeper stood tall, making several key saves to keep his team in the game.


As the match wore on, neither side could find the elusive breakthrough, and the contest went to penalties.


Crowned Champions FC held their nerve, converting four penalties, while Timi Giants FC could only manage two successful attempts, sealing a 4-2 victory for Crowned Champions.


With this win, Crowned Champions FC advance to the final of the Hammola Football Championship, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Jakande FC and Premium Boiz FC, set to take place tomorrow at the Ido Osun High School football arena.
