Croatia emerged victorious in the Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands, winning 4-2 in extra time.
The Croatian team, carrying their momentum from the previous year's World Cup, where they finished third, will compete in the final against either Italy or Spain.
Substitute Bruno Petkovic scored a remarkable goal from outside the penalty area to give Croatia the lead in extra time, and Luka Modric sealed their triumph with a late penalty.
Despite a last-minute equalizer from the Netherlands, Croatia proved to be the more composed and deserving team according to Dutch coach Ronald Koeman. Donyell Malen and Andrej Kramaric were among the goal scorers in regular time.
Croatia's captain, Modric, displayed his experience and skill throughout the match, making key contributions. Koeman acknowledged that his team has shown improvement since his return as coach, but they still have progress to make.
The Netherlands will now play in the third-place playoff, and their Euro 2024 qualification campaign will resume in September.
