Cristiano Ronaldo's Coach at Al Nassr Has Been Granted One Game to Stay on the Job
Posted : 18 April 2023
Despite leading Al Nassr to seven victories in their last eight Saudi Pro League games, Rudi Garcia, 59, the former Roma and Lyon coach, has been in charge of the Riyadh-based club since June 2022. However, his inability to secure the division's top place has left him battling for his job security.
Pressure has also been put on the Frenchman by rumors of a tense relationship between Garcia and Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in December after his contract with Manchester United was mutually terminated.
Al Nassr's next match comes on Tuesday against longtime rivals and the current Asian champions Al Hilal, who are three points behind league leaders Al Ittihad.
Garcia will be under pressure to defeat Al Hilal, who are trying to put together a deal to capture Lionel Messi, in order to avoid being dismissed.
In the Saudi Pro League, which has one of the highest rates of manager dismissals in the world and where head coaches stay in their positions for an average of just over four months, Garcia has already held his position at Al Nassr longer than the majority of other managers.
