Cristiano Ronaldo once famously remarked, "I'm not chasing records, they're chasing me," and he continued to prove this when he became the first footballer to score 900 career goals. This milestone came during Portugal's 2-1 victory over Croatia in the Nations League, where Ronaldo netted Portugal's second goal. The 39-year-old star has scored 131 goals for his national team in 213 appearances, averaging 0.61 goals per match. His remaining 769 goals were scored for various clubs, where he made 1,025 appearances, with an average of 0.75 goals per game.
Ronaldo's most prolific period came during his nine-year stint at Real Madrid, where he scored 450 goals. He also enjoyed great success at Manchester United, scoring 145 times, as well as at Juventus, where he netted 101 goals. His current tally at Al Nassr stands at 68 goals, and at the start of his career, he managed to score five goals for Sporting CP before joining Manchester United. Ronaldo has also dominated the UEFA Champions League, holding the record for most goals scored in the competition, with 140 in 183 appearances, and remains the top scorer in the European Championships with 14 goals.
When it comes to his style of scoring, Ronaldo has shown remarkable versatility. Out of his 900 career goals, 573 came from his right foot, while 173 were left-footed. He also scored 151 headers and two using other body parts. His proficiency in set pieces is impressive, with 164 successful penalties out of 194 attempts, and he has netted 64 goals from free kicks. Additionally, 68 of his goals came from outside the box, while the vast majority, 603, were scored inside the area, excluding penalties.
As Ronaldo embarks on his 23rd season, he continues to defy expectations. Having already scored four goals in his first four appearances this season for Al Nassr, the question remains whether the 39-year-old can push his remarkable goal tally even further, with 1,000 goals still a possibility, despite his advancing age.
