After Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami, New York City FC is reportedly showing interest in signing the Brazilian superstar, who is currently under contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Speculations about Neymar's future have been circulating since his injury in March, which ended his season early. While he is contracted with PSG until 2025, his future with the club remains uncertain. Reports suggest that aside from the potential move to MLS, there have been talks about a possible return to Barcelona or a transfer to treble-winning Manchester City.
Although City Group Football, the team that owns New York City FC, has not yet made an official move or submitted an offer for Neymar, it is said to be formulating its strategy and may pursue the signing vigorously. Neymar himself has previously expressed openness to a move to the United States, stating that he does not rule out joining MLS after his European chapter.
Neymar began his professional career at Santos in Brazil before moving to Barcelona in 2013. During his time at Barcelona, he achieved considerable success, winning the Spanish championship twice, the Copa del Rey three times, and the UEFA Champions League once. In 2017, he made the switch to Paris Saint-Germain, winning multiple domestic titles but falling short in the Champions League.
Known as the biggest star of the Brazilian national team, Neymar has made 124 appearances and scored 77 goals for his country. During his stint at Barcelona, he scored 68 league goals in 123 appearances, and at PSG, he has netted 82 league goals in 112 games.
