On Tuesday, Chelsea's Cole Palmer expressed his satisfaction with being named the PFA's Young Player of the Year. However, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder emphasized that his primary goal is to help Chelsea secure trophies, rather than focusing solely on individual achievements.
Palmer, who had an impressive debut season with Chelsea, scored 22 goals in 34 Premier League appearances following his transfer from Manchester City. Additionally, he played in five of England’s seven European Championship matches, including scoring in the final against Spain.
Palmer revealed that he used the Players' Player of the Year trophy as his phone wallpaper last season for motivation, but he stressed that his main priority is contributing to team success. He conveyed his desire to build on his personal achievements from the previous season and expressed hope for continued success with Chelsea. His focus remains firmly on winning trophies with the club, while individual awards are considered secondary.
As the third Chelsea player to receive the award, following Scott Parker and Eden Hazard, Palmer has recently committed his future to the club by extending his contract until 2033. This long-term extension reflects his dedication to the team and his ambition to achieve more collective success with Chelsea.
