Coach Majin Mohammed has expressed concern over Niger Tornadoes' precarious position in the league standings following their 1-0 defeat to Heartland FC. The loss ended Tornadoes' impressive five-game unbeaten streak, casting doubt on their chances of avoiding relegation as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season draws to a close.
The match against Heartland FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium saw Chukwudi Esobe's header in the 18th minute seal the victory for the hosts. Despite Tornadoes' efforts to find an equalizer, including second-half substitutions, they struggled to penetrate Heartland's solid defense led by goalkeeper Chisom Chiaha, who made several crucial saves.
Reflecting on the match, Coach Majin Mohammed acknowledged the missed opportunities in the first half, stating, "We had our chances but couldn't convert them, while they capitalized on theirs." He emphasized the team's vulnerability in the league standings, emphasizing that "no one is safe yet from 11th place downward."
Looking ahead to their final league fixture against Sunshine Stars in Kaduna, Mohammed stressed the importance of securing a victory. "It's a must-win match for us. We'll regroup at home, analyze our performance, and prepare intensively to ensure we get those three points," he affirmed.
With only one game remaining in the season, Niger Tornadoes must focus on overcoming their recent setback and delivering a decisive performance against Sunshine Stars. The outcome of this upcoming match will determine their fate in the league, highlighting the significance of preparation and determination in their bid to avoid relegation.
