Claudio Ranieri led Cagliari to promotion in Serie A

In a thrilling turn of events, former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri was overcome with tears of joy as he guided Cagliari to promotion in Italy's Serie A.
 
Leonardo Pavoletti sealed the victory with a decisive goal in the 94th minute, securing a 2-1 aggregate win over Bari at Stadio San Nicola on Sunday.
 
Ranieri, aged 71, returned for his second stint as Cagliari's manager in January and experienced an emotional moment after the remarkable achievement.
 
"Cagliari means everything to me," expressed Ranieri, highlighting his deep connection with the club.
 
The Italian manager, renowned for leading Leicester City to an unforgettable Premier League title in the 2015-16 season, previously achieved successive promotions with Cagliari during his initial tenure from 1998 to 1991, taking them from Serie C to Serie A.
 
After taking charge from Fabio Liverani on January 1, with the team placed ninth, Ranieri guided Cagliari to just two defeats in 19 Serie B matches, ultimately finishing fifth in the league.
 
Cagliari triumphed over Venezia and Parma before defeating Bari to secure an immediate return to Serie A.
 
Reflecting on the achievement, Ranieri shared, "My feeling for this shirt is genuine. When I won the Premier League [with Leicester], I immediately thought about the Rossoblu colors," referring to Cagliari's traditional red and blue colors.
 
He expressed his gratitude to those who brought him back to Sardinia and expressed his appreciation for the passionate fans who supported the team throughout the journey.
 
"I want to think about our fans, our people, not only those who come to the stadium - and we have a small stadium - but to all those who have supported us until the end in recent weeks," said Ranieri, acknowledging the devoted supporters who played a significant role in the team's success.
 
Bringing joy to such a dedicated group of fans filled him with immense pride and satisfaction.
