Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukuemeka played a significant role in Chelsea's 5-0 pre-season victory over Wrexham at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in the United States.
It was Chelsea's first match under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, making it an important appearance for the young midfielder under the Argentine tactician.
Chelsea wasted no time in taking the lead, with Ian Maatsen scoring in the third minute, assisted by new signing Nicolas Jackson.
Chukwuemeka showcased his skills in the 42nd minute, providing a well-timed assist to Maatsen, who doubled the Blues' lead through a quick and clever one-two pass.
Chukwuemeka was substituted at the start of the second half, making way for Conor Gallagher, who later scored Chelsea's third goal.
Debutant Christopher Nkunku and left-back Ben Chilwell added to the tally with goals in quick succession, completing the convincing victory.
Notably, Chukwuemeka's assist in the 42nd minute marked his first goal contribution for Chelsea since joining the club from Aston Villa last summer, albeit in a friendly.
The young midfielder will be eager to continue impressing his new manager during subsequent pre-season games as he looks to secure a spot in the team for the upcoming season.
