In a 6-2 victory over West Ham on Sunday, Chloe Kelly scored twice to help Manchester City keep their slim Women's Super League title ambitions alive. Kelly scores the first two goals in under a minute.
Only six minutes had passed before the England player took advantage of a Hawa Cissoko error, surprising goalie Mackenzie Arnold after snagging the loose ball.
Bunny Shaw set up Kelly for her second goal exactly 60 seconds later, and Kelly increased City's advantage with a superb 20-yard arrowed finish.
Man However, the City didn't always get their way. Only minutes after the game began, Vivianne Asseyi had a chance to give the Hammers the lead with a free header but missed it. Four minutes after Kelly's second goal, the visitors reduced the deficit when Emma Snerle's drive from the edge of the box sneaked past teen goalkeeper
Khiara Keating.
But a barrage of goals gave City a more comfortable lead. Before halftime, Laura Coombs' header made it 3-1, and goals from the league's leading scorer Shaw, birthday girl Steph Houghton, and substitute Mary Fowler sealed the victory.
Even though Lisa Evans' strike from West Ham hit the post and went in off the unfortunate Keating, it had little effect on the final result.
