Chicago Fire offers fan incentives as Messi's availability remains unsure

Chicago Fire is offering fans a financial incentive to attend Wednesday's MLS match against Inter Miami, even though there is a possibility that Lionel Messi, the star player for Miami, might miss the game due to injury. So far, Chicago Fire has already sold more than 61,000 tickets for the match at Soldier Field.
Lionel Messi, a seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, has been absent from Miami's last three matches. In an effort to show appreciation to their fans, Chicago Fire is providing a $250 (£207) credit for "new memberships for the 2024 season" or a $50 (£41) credit for "single-game ticket buyers." This credit will be extended to fans regardless of which players end up taking the field.
Chicago Fire stated, "While we don't yet know the official status of Lionel Messi's availability for our match tomorrow, as there's never a guarantee that an athlete will play on any given night due to several factors, we understand that many of our fans may be disappointed if they don't get the chance to see him play. We realize that there will be many in attendance who are coming to a Chicago Fire match at Soldier Field for the first time, and we're excited to welcome them to the Fire Family and give them an opportunity to become long-term fans by creating a wonderful, fan-focused atmosphere."
Chicago Fire's previous highest attendance at Soldier Field was 37,122, which was recorded during their inaugural season in 1998. As for Lionel Messi, the 36-year-old Argentine World Cup winner has played in only one out of six games for Miami since September 3rd and recently watched their 2-1 defeat by Houston Dynamo in the final of the US Open Cup from the stands. Messi joined Miami in July after his contract with Paris St-Germain expired.
