Super Falcons and Paris F.C. goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, once again showcased her exceptional goalkeeping skills in a crucial UEFA Women’s Champions League match against BK Häcken.
At the age of 23, Nnadozie had already earned recognition by receiving the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award for the female category. This accolade was a testament to her outstanding performances during a remarkable season with Paris F.C. in France and with the Nigerian Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Paris F.C. embarked on a significant journey to Sweden with the primary objective of securing three points to enhance their qualification chances. With only one slot remaining after Chelsea F.C. women had already qualified by defeating Real Madrid Femenino, the pressure was on.
The match at the Bravida Arena in Göteborg unfolded rapidly, and on the 20th minute mark, Häcken was awarded a penalty after Teninsoun Sissoko handled the ball in the penalty area. Rosa Kafaji took the responsibility of the spot kick, but Nnadozie rose to the occasion, making a crucial save with a well-placed dive to her left.
This remarkable feat marked Nnadozie's fifth penalty save of the season, showcasing her prowess in high-pressure situations. The Nigerian goalkeeper continued to shine, making five more crucial saves throughout the game, ultimately contributing to a goalless draw.
As the match concluded without any goals, both Paris F.C. and BK Häcken now face a decisive final group game to determine their qualification fate. Paris F.C. is set to clash with Real Madrid Femenino, while BK Häcken will challenge Chelsea, with Madrid having yet to secure a victory in the Champions League this season.
