Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Paris FC crush Le Havre, scoring eight goals

Posted : 30 September 2024

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons goalkeeper, played a crucial role for Paris FC as they achieved an impressive 8-0 victory over Le Havre in their latest league match on Sunday afternoon. This victory marked a significant turnaround for the team after facing disappointment just a few days prior in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where they were eliminated by Manchester City.

Paris FC had a tough time in the Champions League, suffering an aggregate defeat of 8-0. They lost 5-0 in the first leg at home, which set a daunting challenge for the second leg in Manchester, where they fell to a 3-0 loss, ultimately resulting in their exit from the tournament. The team was eager to bounce back and regain their confidence in domestic play.

Shifting their focus back to the Première Ligue, Paris FC hosted Le Havre at the Stade Charléty in Paris. The match proved to be overwhelmingly one-sided, showcasing Paris FC's dominance throughout. Clara Matéo was the standout performer, scoring four goals, while Maëlle Garbino and Julie Dufour each contributed two goals to secure the victory.

This win marked Paris FC's largest triumph since joining the Première Ligue in 2017. However, it’s important to note that it was not the largest victory in the club's history; that honor belongs to a 10-0 win over CA Paris during the Coupe de France Féminine in January 2018. Despite not breaking their all-time record, this recent win certainly highlighted the team’s offensive capabilities.

Nnadozie's presence in the goal has been instrumental in several significant victories for Paris FC, including a notable 9-0 win against Lorient in the Coupe de France Féminine back in January 2022. She also played a part in a similar victory over First Vienna in the Women’s Champions League earlier this September, demonstrating her skill and reliability as a goalkeeper.

In other news from the football world, in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States, Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie played for 82 minutes as her team, Houston Dash, faced a 3-1 defeat against Orlando Pride. Meanwhile, Nigerian international Nicole Payne came off the bench for Portland Thorns during their match against San Diego Wave, contributing to her team's efforts.
