Victor Moses, who won the 2017 Premier League with Chelsea, has experienced yet another setback due to an injury.
The team flying to Zhigulevsk for the second leg of the semifinals of the Fonbet Cup of Russia Path of Regions does not include the retired Nigerian international.
Moses has remained in Moscow, the capital of Russia, where he is receiving individualized instruction.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champion missed the Red and Whites' most recent two matches in the Russian Premier League while he recovers from an unexplained illness.
The two Moscow derbies against Dinamo Moscow (April 8) and Torpedo Moscow (April 15) were both forfeited by him.
The midfielder returned to play this month after missing over eight months due to an Achilles tendon injury, making two substitute appearances against Akhmat Grozny and Ural.
Moses' future at Spartak Moscow has been the subject of discussion. One year before the end of his contract, rumours had Moses leaving the 22-time Soviet Top League/Russian Premier League champions in the summer.
Moses ended a nine-year relationship with Chelsea in 2021, during which time he also shared UEFA Europa League and Emirates FA Cup victories.
