Barcelona has secured the signing of Tudor Mendel-Idowu, an England youth international of Nigerian descent, from Chelsea, with Mendel-Idowu's grandfather, John Adeleye-Abai, having represented the Super Eagles in international football.
The 18-year-old winger has agreed to a three-year contract with Barcelona, extending until June 2026. Initially, he will join Barcelona Atlètic, their youth team competing in the Primera Federación, while also pursuing his education within the club.
Mendel-Idowu's journey with Chelsea began at the U8 level, progressing through the ranks to play for their U18s, where he showcased his talent by scoring six goals in 12 games during the U18 Premier League last season.
His impressive performances also earned him a cameo appearance for the development side. Despite receiving a new deal offer from Chelsea, Mendel-Idowu has opted to further his career at Barcelona.
