Chelsea secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over 10-man Brighton in Philadelphia, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku shining for the Blues. Brighton took the lead through Danny Welbeck, but Nkunku equalized for Chelsea.
The game changed when Jan Paul van Hecke received a second yellow card, leaving Brighton with 10 men. Chelsea took advantage of the numerical superiority, with Mudryk, Conor Gallagher, and Nicolas Jackson scoring three goals in just 11 minutes.
Despite Brighton's late efforts, including goals from João Pedro and Deniz Undav, Chelsea held on for the win in front of over 65,000 fans. Mauricio Pochettino made several changes to the team, with Nkunku starting for the first time following his move from RB Leipzig.
Mudryk's brilliant goal and Jackson's impressive link-up play were some of the positives for Chelsea. Levi Colwill, a transfer target for Brighton, fouled Pedro in the box, resulting in a penalty that the Brazilian forward converted.
Chelsea's next challenge in the Premier League Summer Series campaign will be against Newcastle United in Atlanta. The game was a spectacle of attacking football, with both teams creating numerous chances.
The win marked Chelsea's second consecutive victory under Pochettino's management, leaving the fans excited for the upcoming season.
