Chelsea Football Club has secured the signing of Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal on an eight-year contract.
The 22-year-old had an impressive season, scoring 13 goals in 38 appearances for Villarreal, including nine goals in the final eight matches of the La Liga campaign.
This marks Chelsea's second signing of the summer, following the acquisition of French striker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig for £52 million.
The undisclosed transfer fee for Jackson is reportedly around £32 million. Chelsea's co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, expressed their confidence in the young player's potential and believe he is ready for this new chapter in his career.
They look forward to his contribution under the guidance of the club's new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
As Chelsea continues to reshape their squad, several high-profile departures have been completed, with more expected to follow.
Players such as Kai Havertz, who joined Arsenal for £65 million, and Mateo Kovacic, who moved to Manchester City for an initial fee of £25 million, have left the club.
Jackson's compatriots Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have also departed for Saudi clubs, while N'Golo Kante will be signing for Saudi champions Al-Ittihad.
In January, Jackson had a transfer agreed with Bournemouth, but the move fell through due to issues during his medical examination. However, he made a successful return to Villarreal in March and earned the La Liga player of the month award for May.
His impressive performances helped Villarreal secure a fifth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League. Jackson has also represented Senegal at the World Cup and earned additional caps in June, contributing assists in matches against Benin and Brazil.
