Chelsea sign £25m goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for seven-year deal

Chelsea has made a significant addition to their squad by completing the £25m signing of Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion. The 25-year-old has agreed to a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Sanchez, who made 23 league appearances for Brighton last season before losing his starting position to Jason Steele, is highly regarded for his goalkeeping skills. Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi expressed his admiration for Sanchez but acknowledged that sometimes difficult decisions need to be made for the team.
Having joined Brighton as a 15-year-old in 2013 from La Liga side Levante, Sanchez has developed into a Premier League talent. He made his Premier League debut for Brighton in a match against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2020.
At Chelsea, Sanchez will face competition from fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga, as Edouard Mendy recently moved to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli in June.
Chelsea's sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, expressed excitement about having Sanchez on board, citing his impressive track record in the Premier League and his international experience.
Sanchez becomes Chelsea's sixth signing of the summer, as the club is gearing up for Mauricio Pochettino's first season in charge. The Blues have also added Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, Axel Disasi from Monaco, Lesley Ugochukwu from Rennes, and Angelo Gabriel from Santos.
Despite these new arrivals, Chelsea has also seen some high-profile departures from their squad. Players like Kai Havertz, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N'Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Christian Pulisic have all found new clubs during this transfer window.
