Chelsea has officially confirmed the season-long loan transfer of David Fofana to Bundesliga club Union Berlin, as announced on their official website.
Fofana, an Ivory Coast international, is represented by influential Nigerian agent Atta Aneke, based in Oslo, who also manages Super Eagles players Odion Ighalo, Chidera Ejuke, Aaron Samuel, and Nigeria U20 international Abel Ogwuche.
The talented Ivorian forward joined Chelsea from Molde during the January transfer window, signing a contract until 2029 with the option to extend for another year.
While the specific transfer fee paid to Molde was not disclosed, Aneke revealed that it marked the most expensive outbound transfer in Norwegian football history.
In the second half of last season, Fofana made three appearances in the Premier League and played for 45 minutes in the Emirates FA Cup match against Manchester City.
Agent Atta Aneke expressed his reaction to the transfer, stating, "David Datro Fofana will join German Champions League team Union Berlin on a loan deal for the 2023/2024 season from his parent club Chelsea.
The journey and development continue for this highly talented Ivory Coast attacker, and we look forward to seeing him light up Berlin with his skills."
