Chelsea Dismissed Graham Potter After Just 31 Games in Charge – Reasons
Posted : 16 April 2023
The swift firing of Graham Potter by Chelsea on Sunday was apparently prompted by "anger" inside the locker room and some perplexing selection decisions.
After barely six months and 31 games under Potter's leadership, the Blues concluded on Sunday night that change was once more necessary in their dugout.
The breaking point came after a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at home, although Todd Boehly and company had been planning a significant decision for some time.
After selecting Potter to succeed Champions League-winning coach Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea ownership group was ready to support him but soon found themselves in a bind.
After a sluggish start to his rule in west London, Potter was expected to demonstrate some indications of improvement, but it was difficult to overlook regression on the pitch and the fact that spectators' trust was dwindling.
