Chelsea coach Pochettino unfazed by Madueke situation
Posted : 27 July 2023
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has clarified the absence of Noni Madueke, the Super Eagles-eligible winger, in the team's recent pre-season match against Newcastle.
The 21-year-old player, who had finished the previous season on a high note with five starts in the last six Premier League games and a goal, missed the match due to a tight hamstring.
Despite the injury concern, Pochettino reassured fans that there is no major worry about the situation and believes it can be resolved in the coming days.
During the pre-season, Madueke had already missed the first two games against Wrexham and Brighton, and his recent setback has been attributed to the hamstring issue.
However, the Chelsea coach emphasized that the club has taken precautions with other players as well, including Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill, to manage their fitness ahead of the upcoming season.
Pochettino expressed optimism that Madueke will be joining his teammates in Philadelphia soon, where the club is conducting their pre-season preparations.
It's crucial for the England youth international to recover swiftly and regain his fitness to make an impression on the manager before the start of the season.
As Chelsea gears up for their upcoming campaigns, Madueke's presence and contributions will be essential, and the club remains hopeful that the injury setback won't hinder his progress in the long term.
