Chaves nearing deal for Arsenal's Nwakali

Former Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali is the subject of negotiations between Portuguese Primeira Liga team G.D. Chaves and Ponferradina, as the talented Nigerian seeks a new club following Ponferradina's relegation from the Segunda División. 

Nwakali, who was a standout player in a struggling Ponferradina side, is close to securing a deal with Chaves, with talks underway between the clubs. 

Personal terms are also being discussed, with Nwakali aiming for a two-year contract. In an effort to revive his international career, the midfielder has focused on joining a top division club that can provide him with playing time in the upcoming season. 

While Czech and Danish clubs have shown interest, Chaves appears to be leading the race for the 25-year-old's signature. 

Notably, Nwakali previously had a stint in Portuguese football during the 2018-2019 season, making appearances for Porto B while on loan from Arsenal. 

With just one year remaining on his contract with Ponferradina, Nwakali is eager to secure a move to further his career.
