Charlton Athletic officially secure Chelsea youth product Adegoke's signature

Charlton Athletic has officially announced the signing of Chelsea's youth academy product, Prince Adegoke, as detailed in a statement released on their official website. 

The 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee is set to embark on a new phase of his football journey with Charlton Athletic, starting with their development squad. 

In addition to this developmental role, he will also provide crucial cover for the first-team squad managed by Dean Holden.

For the upcoming 2023-2024 season, Adegoke is poised to assume the position of Charlton Athletic's third-choice goalkeeper. 

His inclusion in the team's roster reflects the promising talent he brings to the club. 

The official signing ceremony, held last Thursday, was graced by the presence of first-team manager Dean Holden, signifying the significance of this acquisition.

Adegoke, a talented 19-year-old goalkeeper, has inked a one-year contract with Charlton Athletic, coupled with the option of extending it for an additional year—a testament to the club's belief in his potential. 

This decision follows a successful trial period that demonstrated his capabilities and fit within the club's setup. 

His impressive track record includes being part of Chelsea's U18 Premier League Cup-winning squad during the 2021-2022 season. 

He further gained valuable experience during a loan stint at Welling United at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.

While at Chelsea's esteemed academy, Adegoke had the privilege of training with the first-team goalkeeping group, illustrating his dedication and commitment to his craft. 

Despite not making his professional debut for Chelsea's senior team, his time there contributed to his growth as a goalkeeper. 

His journey now continues at Charlton Athletic, where he recently made his competitive debut for the development squad. 

In a Professional Development League match against Wigan Athletic, staged at the Valley on Monday afternoon, Adegoke showcased his abilities in a 2-2 draw—an auspicious start to his journey with Charlton Athletic.
