Caykur Rizespor has taken a firm stance to quash all speculations regarding the signing of Mathias Oyewusi, a forward who garnered attention with his standout performances at FK Zalgiris Vilnius.
Despite rumors swirling about potential European club interest, including Rizespor, the Turkish team has issued a definitive denial of any such plans.
The club released an official statement on their website labeling the circulating rumors as "false and unfounded," clarifying their position and putting an end to the speculation.
Mathias Oyewusi's reputation soared in Lithuania during the previous season, highlighted by a series of remarkable displays on the field. The 24-year-old forward's impressive tally of 15 goals and six assists in just 21 Optibet A Lyga games underscored his capabilities.
Furthermore, Oyewusi's contributions extended beyond the domestic league, with two goals and two assists in the Conference League, as well as an initial success of two goals in six games during the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
Despite his impressive track record, the lack of concrete club offers has left Oyewusi still associated with FK Zalgiris Vilnius.
Interestingly, the forward's contract with the Lithuanian club is set to expire in December 2023, potentially paving the way for him to become a free agent in just five months' time.
