Cameroon's men's football team has named Belgian Marc Brys as their new head coach, replacing former coach Rigobert Song, whose contract expired in February. Brys will be supported by Joachim Mununga and Giannis Xilouris, along with a new technical, medical, and administrative staff, as announced by the sports ministry on Tuesday.
Rigobert Song's tenure as head coach concluded after leading the Indomitable Lions to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they achieved a notable victory against Brazil but failed to progress beyond the group stage. Despite their early exit, Song's leadership continued into the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Cameroon reached the Round of 16 but were defeated by eventual finalists Nigeria.
Having earned 137 caps for Cameroon as a player, Rigobert Song's coaching tenure saw mixed results, prompting the appointment of Marc Brys to bring fresh direction to the team's strategies and performance. Brys, along with his appointed assistants and support staff, aims to steer the Indomitable Lions toward further success on the international stage.
