This marks a continued push to enhance the profile and competitiveness of women’s football in Africa.

Under the leadership of Dr. Patrice Motsepe since 2021, CAF has prioritized the growth of women’s football, with the Women’s Champions League serving as a flagship initiative in this endeavor.

This year, the total prize pool for the tournament has been increased by 52% to a substantial USD 2,350,000, demonstrating CAF’s commitment to gender equality and the promotion of women’s sports.

The prize breakdown for the tournament is as follows:

- Winner: USD 600,000
- Runner-up: USD 400,000
- 3rd Place: USD 350,000
- 4th Place: USD 300,000
- 3rd in Group Stage: USD 200,000 each
- 4th in Group Stage: USD 150,000 each

The winner of the tournament will walk away with a historic USD 600,000, significantly elevating the stakes and motivation for participating clubs.

This financial boost aligns with CAF’s broader objective of investing in youth football academies for both boys and girls.

CAF is determined to create an ecosystem where young talent can flourish, providing a platform for African players to compete on a global scale. By improving the financial rewards of its competitions, CAF aims to attract more attention and resources to women’s football, making it more competitive and sustainable.

The Women’s Champions League, inaugurated in 2021, has already played a pivotal role in showcasing the immense talent and potential of African women footballers. With the increased prize money, CAF hopes to incentivize clubs to invest further in player development, infrastructure, and competitive readiness.

This move has been widely welcomed by stakeholders, including players, clubs, and fans. It reflects the growing recognition of women’s football and its importance in driving societal change and promoting inclusivity in sports.

CAF’s strategic initiatives, backed by increased financial commitment, underscore its mission to develop women’s football as a cornerstone of African sports. As the countdown begins for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, all eyes will be on the tournament to see which club will rise to claim the top prize of USD 600,000.

Beyond the competition, this financial uplift is set to transform the landscape of women’s football across Africa, ensuring it continues to thrive and inspire future generations.

In another new development, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a stunning new logo, heralding a fresh era for African women’s football. With just 48 hours to kick off, the excitement is palpable.

The sleek, modern design embodies the strength, resilience, and talent of African women’s football. As the continent’s top teams converge in Morocco, the new logo will be the symbol of their unwavering dedication and passion.
