After securing a spot as one of the 12 seeded clubs waiting for the winners of the first-round ties in the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, one of Nigeria's representatives in the competition has now identified their next opponent.
Etoile Filante FC advanced to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup on the away goals rule after playing a goalless draw against Hafia FC (Guinea) at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako, Mali. The first leg had ended 1-1 at the same venue, so with this result, the Burkinabe team is set to face a familiar foe in the People’s Elephants from Nigeria.
The People’s Elephants have faced the Burkinabe club twice in the first round of the CAF Champions League in 2002.
In the first leg, played at UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Enyimba FC defeated Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso 4-0. Enyimba suffered a 3-1 defeat in Ouagadougou in the second leg but qualified for the next round with a 5-3 aggregate.
The Aba Giants will play Etoile Filante FC away from home on September 13, with the reverse fixture scheduled for September 20.
