The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the final three-man shortlist for the prestigious CAF Player of the Year award.
Before the final showpiece in Marrakesh, the initial ten-man shortlist for the award was reduced to three.
The shortlisted players for the individual award made the prestigious list due to their superb performances for their respective clubs and countries.
Leading the race is Lookman Ademola, the Super Eagles and Atalanta attacker, who was shortlisted for the award due to his outstanding display for both club and country.
In the 2023/2024 season, the 26-year-old winger won the UEFA Europa League and Atalanta’s Player of the Year award.
Victor Boniface, the Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker, is also in the running, as he was instrumental for both club and country.
In the 2023/2024 season, the highly-rated striker won the Bundesliga title, German Cup, and German Super Cup.
Also included in the race is Moroccan and Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz, who was crucial for both club and country.
In the 2023/2024 season, the 25-year-old attacker won the Spanish La Liga title, UEFA Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
