Posted : 21 August 2023
Remo Stars defender, Victor Collins on Monday gave reasons why the team suffered a 1-0 slim defeat to Ghanaian side Medeama SC, in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg on Sunday, at the Cape Coast Stadium, Ghana.
The former Amanat Baghdad and Nasarawa United left footed defender featured for 77 minutes in the game for the Daniel Ogunmodede led side as they suffered defeat in the road in the continent.
Victor revealed that the poor pitch surface affected the players and blamed Confederation of African Football (CAF) for approving such stadium.
``I think the poor pitch surface affected us.
``However, I don't really understand the reasons why CAF approved such stadium for a high profile match like this."
The Enugu-born defender still feels optimistic that the team will turn it around in the second leg at the Remo Stars Stadium this weekend.
``Definitely, I'm very confident that we are going to turn it around in the second leg, because that is what we are praying for.
"Because we will be playing at home, so we don't have any other choice than to win the game."
Remo Stars are expected to improve on their performance ahead of the second leg clash against Medeama SC this weekend, at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.
