James Milner, the midfielder currently with Liverpool, will be joining Brighton on a one-year contract once his deal with Liverpool expires at the end of June.
During his eight-year tenure at Anfield, the 37-year-old secured six major honors, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
Earlier on Wednesday, Brighton also completed the club's record signing of Joao Pedro, the Brazilian forward from Watford.
Brighton's coach, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed his delight at welcoming James to the team and believes he will be an excellent addition that can elevate the squad to a higher level.
Having secured a Europa League spot with a sixth-placed finish in the league, this will be Brighton's first foray into European competition. The club sees Milner's experience as invaluable in their pursuit of establishing themselves within the Premier League's top 10 after two impressive seasons.
David Weir, the technical director, highlighted Milner's decorated career, emphasizing his extensive game-time and trophy-winning achievements, including European competitions. Brighton views this experience as highly valuable as they embark on their inaugural season in European competition.
Milner joined Liverpool in 2015 under the management of Brendan Rodgers and played a crucial role in securing the club's first Premier League title in 2020. Prior to his time at Liverpool, he played for Leeds United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Manchester City.
During his tenure at City, he contributed to the club's first top-flight title in 44 years, along with winning the FA Cup, League Cup, and Community Shield.
