With significant victories in the Premier League's midweek games, Brighton and Brentford both moved one step closer to competing in Europe next season.

Southampton 2-0 to get back on track, moving them only one point farther behind.
Brentford defeated Southampton 2-0, while Brighton defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, putting both teams one step closer to a place in Europe.
Vicente Guaita was ruled out injured on the eve of the game, therefore Palace started Joe Whitworth, a 19-year-old goalkeeper who became the youngest player to start in goal for a Premier League match since Ben Alnwick in 2005.
Since then, Brighton has been in the lead, despite some crucial stops from their goalie Jason Steele.
Despite being in 12th place, Palace hardly made a threat and is still searching for its first victory of 2023 as they are only three points above the relegation zone.
Brentford, who defeated Southampton, is now one point ahead of Brighton, who are currently two points clear of Newcastle in fifth place.
