Brighton's coach Roberto De Zerbi has expressed the need for more from Ansu Fati as the young forward nears the end of his season-long loan from Barcelona to the English Premier League side. Fati, who arrived at Brighton amid significant anticipation, has encountered difficulties meeting the high expectations associated with his talent.
The 21-year-old Spanish international endured a two-month injury setback earlier in the season, limiting his participation to just 23 appearances across all competitions, often from the bench. De Zerbi acknowledged Fati's challenges, attributing them partly to the weight of expectations and the adversity he faced due to injuries.
Despite a promising start to his tenure at Brighton, where he scored four goals in his initial 14 appearances, Fati's return from injury in February hasn't yielded the desired impact, with a goal drought extending over nine matches. With Brighton eyeing European qualification, De Zerbi emphasized the importance of Fati adapting to and exceeding the lofty expectations placed upon him, underscoring the team's commitment to supporting his development.
