Brentford target Super Eagles-eligible right-back under favorable terms

Brentford FC has expressed interest in signing Fiorentina's right-back, Michael Kayode, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles. However, the Premier League side is reportedly cautious about moving forward unless the terms of the deal align with their financial and strategic objectives.  


The 20-year-old defender, currently representing Italy at the U21 level, has experienced limited playing opportunities this season at Fiorentina. Despite a breakthrough campaign last year, Kayode has seen his role diminish, playing second fiddle to Brazilian fullback Dodo.  


This reduced playing time has fueled Kayode's desire to find a new club where he can secure regular minutes on the pitch. Brentford, known for their strategic scouting and investment in young talent, has long monitored Kayode's development and is now considering a move.  


Nevertheless, Brentford is approaching this potential transfer with caution. The club's management has emphasized the importance of securing deals that fit their financial structure and long-term goals, ensuring that any new signing contributes positively to the squad.  


Talks between Brentford, Fiorentina, and another interested Premier League side, Brighton & Hove Albion, are reportedly ongoing. A loan deal with an option to buy for a fee of around €17 million has been floated as a potential framework for the transfer.  


While Brentford's interest in Kayode is evident, the club is not in a rush to finalize the deal. They are carefully evaluating whether the young defender fits into their plans and whether the transfer represents good value for money.  


Kayode, who has previously been linked to Tottenham and was once part of Juventus' youth setup, is drawing significant interest as the January transfer window progresses. It remains to be seen if Brentford can secure his signature amid competition and their measured approach to the negotiations.
