Brendan Rodgers: Leicester Fires Their Manager After Falling into the Premier League's Relegation Zone
Posted : 16 April 2023
The management of Leicester City, which is now in the Premier League's relegation zone, has been terminated by Brendan Rodgers.
After being hired in 2019, the Northern Irishman guided the Foxes to their maiden FA Cup victory two years later. However, this season has not gone as expected, and after a seven-game losing streak, the team has made the decision to take action.
Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City have parted ways, the team has confirmed.
The Foxes lost 2-1 to fellow strugglers Crystal Palace on Saturday, extending their winless streak to seven games, and they now find themselves in the bottom three of the Premier League.
Since defeating Tottenham 4-1 on February 11, Leicester has only earned one point in their past six league contests. In the fifth round of the FA Cup, they were again shocked by Blackburn Rovers of the Championship.
Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, the club's chairman, stated that this season's performances and results had fallen "below our shared expectations."
After being hired as manager in February 2019, Rodgers led the team to its first FA Cup victory in 2021.
