Brazil has officially summoned Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Beraldo to fill the gap left by the injured Gleison Bremer for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Peru, as announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Thursday.
Bremer, who plays as a center-back for Juventus, is set to undergo surgery after suffering an interior cruciate ligament injury during a Champions League match against RB Leipzig, where the team won 3-2.
At just 20 years old, Beraldo has already established himself as a key player for Sao Paulo before making a move to PSG, where he signed a five-year contract in January. He earned his first cap for the Brazilian national team in March and has been seen as a promising addition to the squad.
Currently, Brazil sits in fifth place in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, having accumulated 10 points from eight matches. The top six teams from the ten-member confederation qualify directly for the World Cup, highlighting the importance of the upcoming matches for Brazil as they strive to improve their standings.
