BOWFT: Heartland Queens gallantly bow out of tourney

Lucky Mary was named the "Man of the Match" for the second time at the Betsy Obaseki Women's Football Tournament (BOWFT) as Heartland Queens FC gallantly lost to the host team, Edo Queens FC of Benin, with a score of 1-2 in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Saturday, October 28, at Western Boys City High School in Benin City.
Heartland Queens FC displayed class and dominated the game in both halves, but it was Edo Queens who scored the opening goal with a finish from a rebound, giving them an advantage over Heartland Queens FC.
Heartland Queens FC fought back in the second half and managed to score an equalizer with Onyedikachi's header, leveling the game at 1-1.
The game, which was marred by questionable officiating, extended to the full 90 minutes and even into extra time.
Edo Queens scored the winning goal at exactly 90+10 minutes, securing the victory for the host club.
The loss marked the end of the road for Heartland Queens, while Edo Queens advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament.
Lucky Mary was awarded the title of "Most Valuable Player of the Match" and received a GOtv decoder, courtesy of Multichoice Nigeria Limited.
