BOWFT: Heartland Queens begin campaign with 2-1 victory over Royal Queens

Heartland Queens FC of Owerri started their Betsy Obaseki Women's Football Tournament (BOWFT) campaign on a winning note by coming from behind to defeat Royal Queens 2-1 at the UNIBEN Sports Center in Benin City.

The Owerri Landladies maintained dominance in the game from the first whistle until the end of the match. However, a set piece gifted the Warri side an early lead, but Heartland Queens responded three minutes later to level the score.

Heartland Queens took the lead in the additional minutes of the first half, and that was all they needed to secure the victory, as the game ended 2-1.

Heartland Queens will now face Fortress Ladies at the UNIBEN Sports Center.

Lucky Mary, who scored Heartland Queens' second goal, received the MVP award courtesy of DSTV.
