BOWFT: Delta Queens FC Coach optimistic that team will get better
Posted : 27 October 2023
Head coach of Delta Queens FC, Coach Tosan Blankson, stated on Thursday that any opponent who underestimates the strength of his current team does so at their own peril.
The "Sabi coach," as he is fondly called, made this statement in a post-match interview after his side secured a 1-0 victory over NWFL debutants Ekiti Queens FC.
He mentioned that the team's goal was to surpass their previous performance in the Preseason Tournament, where they finished in third place.
Coach Blankson also revealed that the team was participating in the tournament without twelve regular players from the squad that won the NWFL Championship last season. Despite this, he expressed confidence in the strength of his current team and stated that he was proud of their first performance together.
"We had eleven players on the field who were all new and playing together for the first time. Six of our top players are on national assignments for the country, while six others left the club. When it comes to consistency, we don't have it yet. However, with this competition, the team's cohesion will improve, and I can assure you that this team will reach the final of this tournament."
Delta Queens FC, the current NWFL Champions, defeated Ekiti Queens FC by a single goal in their first match of the season at the BOWFT Preseason Tournament. Their next match will be against the Honey Badgers at the Uniben Sports Complex.
