Bayelsa United has unveiled former U-20 coach Ladan Bosso as the new technical adviser of the club ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Bosso, who is returning to the Yenagoa-based club after his previous stint from 2012 to 2014, was unveiled at the Samson Siasia Stadium alongside Whyte Ogbonda, who has been appointed as the new coach of Bayelsa Queens.
The former Abia Warriors and El-Kanemi Warriors coach signed a two-year deal with the Prosperity Boys, with the possibility of contract renewal upon expiration.
Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo stated at the unveiling ceremony that the decision to hire Bosso was imperative due to the club's lackluster performance last season.
He noted that the Bayelsa State government was aware of the efforts made by the coaches last season, pointing out that the appointment of the new coaches would bring balance to both teams.
According to him, the primary aim of the teams' new coaches is to return Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens to their glory days and secure a continental ticket, urging the newly unveiled coaches to bring their wealth of experience to their new roles.
The Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, asserted that the performance of both teams was below average, describing the 2024/2025 season as a potentially fruitful one for the clubs.
At the unveiling, Bosso expressed confidence that the team will compete favorably with their peers, stressing that he would strengthen the squad before the commencement of the season.
He noted that, given the seriousness of the government, he is confident of putting smiles on the faces of Bayelsans, mentioning that he has already contacted players who will be part of the team in the coming days.
Bosso also dismissed rumors about his appointment as the new head coach of the National U-23 team, describing them as fake news.
