Borussia Dortmund Signs Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim on a €30 Million Deal

German international Maximilian Beier has finalized a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund after successfully completing a medical examination. The deal, reportedly worth 30 million euros ($32.7 million), marks a significant move for the 21-year-old striker. Beier, who came through the youth ranks at Energie Cottbus, has spent the past six years at Hoffenheim, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience.

 

Beier expressed his enthusiasm about joining Dortmund, saying, "I'm really excited to take this next major step in my career." His impressive debut season in the Bundesliga saw him score 16 goals in 33 matches, earning him his first senior international call-up in March. This achievement led to his inclusion in Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the European Championship, reflecting his rapid rise in German football.

 

Sebastian Kehl, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, described Beier as the club's "top target" following the departure of Niclas Fuellkrug to West Ham in the English Premier League. Kehl praised Beier's maturity on the pitch, noting his "impressive pace," relentless work rate, and versatility in playing various positions. He added, "There's scope for him to develop further, and we'll help him become an even better player. He's a down-to-earth person who's willing to learn, and his hard work and commitment make him the perfect fit for BVB."
