Borussia Dortmund Mulls Move for Mason Greenwood After Champions League Final

Borussia Dortmund remains open to the possibility of signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood but will postpone any decision until after Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid. Greenwood, 22, is set to return to Old Trafford after a season-long loan at Getafe, where he impressed with 8 goals in 33 league appearances, earning the title of their player of the season.

 

Amid links with Juventus and Atlético Madrid, Dortmund, known for their loan deal with Jadon Sancho, are emerging as potential suitors for Greenwood, who has one year remaining on his United contract. Sporting director Sebastian Kehl emphasized that discussions about Greenwood's future are on hold until after the Wembley showdown against Madrid.

 

Greenwood's career has been marred by off-field incidents, including an arrest on suspicion of rape and assault in January 2022, leading to his suspension by United. Although charges were dropped in February 2023, United conducted an internal investigation, ultimately agreeing that a fresh start away from Old Trafford would be best for the player. Despite interest from Getafe in extending his loan, United is reportedly seeking a permanent transfer for Greenwood, signaling a potential departure from the club.
