Borno Government Finally Rewards El-Kanemi Warriors for FA Cup Win

The Borno State government has finally rewarded the conquering El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club for their 2024 President’s Federation Cup win.

 

The team was rewarded with N35.2 million.

 

The team made history by defeating Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final, ending a 32-year wait for the prestigious trophy to return to Borno.

 

The cash award was presented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijjani, on behalf of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum during a ceremony in the SSG's office.

 

As part of this generous package, each player received a stipend of N1 million as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

 

In addition to the state government's support, El-Kanemi Warriors also received a N50 million cash prize for their Federation Cup triumph.

 

Commissioner of Sports Hon. Sainna Buba expressed profound gratitude to Governor Zulum for the financial support and recommended Babagana Kalli for the position of Special Adviser on Sports, emphasizing his extensive experience in the field.

 

The Technical Adviser of the club, Aliyu Zubairu, praised the state government for its continued commitment to enhancing sports in Borno and urged the prompt release of funds to ensure the team’s smooth travel for matches across the country.
