FIFA has officially confirmed that three bids have been submitted for hosting the 2027 Women's World Cup. The bids hail from three different confederations, with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany jointly bidding from Europe, Mexico and the United States submitting a joint bid, and Brazil presenting a sole bid.
FIFA will commence a comprehensive evaluation process, including on-site inspections beginning in February 2024, with the findings set to be published in a bid evaluation report by May 2024. The final decision on the host country will be determined through an open vote at the FIFA Congress in Bangkok on May 17, 2024.
South Africa, initially planning to bid, withdrew from the process last month, expressing a preference to present a well-prepared bid for the 2031 Women's World Cup. The United States has previously hosted the tournament on its own in 1999 and 2003, while Germany hosted the event in 2011.
The most recent Women's World Cup took place in July and August 2022, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, with Spain emerging victorious over England in the final. The upcoming evaluation and decision-making process will shape the landscape for the next edition of this global sporting event.
