After over 90 minutes of intense action in the finals of the 2024 Lagos Supremacy Cup, Beyond Limits secured a dramatic victory, defeating defending champions Dino SC on penalties.

A wave of elation swept through the Beyond Limits Football Academy as they claimed the title by defeating Dino SC in a thrilling contest.

The electrifying final match of the 19th edition of the tournament took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday morning.

Amidst much suspense, Beyond Limits left it late, as the match stretched to penalties before they finally overcame the resilient Dino SC.

However, Beyond Limits did not achieve victory on a silver platter. It required a heroic performance from goalkeeper Daniel Aiyenugba, who made a crucial save against Pascal Okoli’s attempt. With the match ending 1-1 after regulation time, Beyond Limits triumphed 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

In this storied rivalry, the 2023 champions Dino SC and Beyond Limits Football Academy were eager to assert dominance, delivering an exhilarating spectacle for fans.

Daniel Aiyenugba, son of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba, made an outstanding save early in the match, diving full stretch to deny Hassan Agbede’s penalty kick just six minutes in.

Beyond Limits ramped up their intensity, creating two significant chances to take the lead. Abass Olasunkanmi narrowly missed an easy opportunity, while Isaac Chukwudi’s shot hit the post.

The match unfolded as a gripping, back-and-forth contest. Dino SC’s Ikechukwu Friday unleashed a powerful long-range shot that left Aiyenugba vulnerable, but defender Rawa Muhammed executed a critical goal-line clearance.

The opening goal came in the 27th minute, with Daniel Arierhi finding himself in the perfect position to score for the reigning Viareggio Cup champions.

As the teams headed into halftime, Beyond Limits held a narrow 1-0 lead, setting the stage for an intense second half as Dino SC sought to mount a comeback.

Their persistence paid off when Ikechukwu Friday equalized with a well-taken penalty kick.

Beyond Limits triumphed, relying on the stellar performance of Daniel Aiyenugba to clinch a 5-4 victory in the shootout.

In the third-place match, Charlesann rose to the occasion against 36 Lion.

Just two minutes into the game, Charlesann launched a dangerous attack that resulted in a goal by Ajofoba Olashile.

The Lion Club regrouped and fought back, with Samson Akinyoola—a standout player in the tournament—scoring his fourth goal, assisted by a precise pass from Cisse Mamady.

A penalty awarded to Charlesann was confidently converted by Sunday Jones, who outwitted goalkeeper Samuel Oriola.

Akinyoola continued to inspire his teammates and took a shot that deflected into the path of Isah Mohammed, who capitalized on the opportunity.

Israel Archibong nearly secured a late winner with a powerful strike, but his shot rattled the crossbar.

Ultimately, Charlesann emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 5-4.
